Charles II was the King of the Personal Union of the Kingdoms of England and Scotland from 1660 to 1685. During his reign, he faced several significant wars, including the Second Anglo-Dutch War (1665-1667) and the Third Anglo-Dutch War (1672-1674). These conflicts were marked by naval battles and territorial disputes between England and the Dutch Republic. Additionally, Charles II also dealt with the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685, a failed attempt to overthrow his rule led by James Scott, Duke of Monmouth. Despite these challenges, Charles II is remembered for his restoration of the monarchy and his efforts to stabilize the kingdom after the tumultuous period of the English Civil War.
