Al-Mu'tasim was the eighth Abbasid Caliph who ruled from 833 to 842. He was known for his military prowess and expansionist policies. This conflict arose between the Abbasid Caliphate and the Tahirid dynasty, who sought to establish their independence in the eastern provinces.
