Gelawdewos was the Emperor of the Ethiopian Empire during the period of 1540-1559. His reign was marked by significant military conflicts, including the Battle of Wayna Daga in 1543, where he successfully defended his empire against the invading forces of Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi. Gelawdewos also led his troops in the Battle of Jarte in 1547, where he fought against the forces of the neighboring Adal Sultanate.
