Icon James Monroe, President (Unorganized Territory) : All Data

James Monroe was the fifth President of the United States, serving from 1817 to 1825. During his tenure, the most significant wars were the First Seminole War (1817-1818) and the Panic of 1819, which was an economic crisis rather than a war. The First Seminole War occurred within the calculated timespan of Monroe's rule and was a conflict between the United States and the Seminole Native American tribe, resulting in the acquisition of Florida from Spain. The Panic of 1819, although not a war, was a severe economic downturn that occurred during Monroe's presidency and led to widespread financial distress and bank failures.
