Emperor Wen, also known as Yang Jian, ruled over the Sui Dynasty from 581 to 604. During his reign, he unified China after centuries of division and established a centralized government. One of the most significant wars that occurred during his tenure was the Goguryeo-Sui War, which lasted from 598 to 614. This conflict saw Emperor Wen's forces launching multiple campaigns against the Goguryeo Kingdom in present-day Korea. Another notable war was the Chen-Qi Rebellion, which took place from 582 to 589. This revolt was led by Chen Shubao and Qi Shiji, who sought to overthrow the Sui Dynasty but were ultimately defeated by Emperor Wen's forces.
