Afonso II was the King of Portugal who ruled from 1211 to 1223. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the War of the Alentejo (1211-1212) and the War of the Two Brothers (1217-1220). The War of the Alentejo was a conflict between Afonso II and his half-brother Sancho II over the control of the Alentejo region, while the War of the Two Brothers was a power struggle between Afonso II and his brother-in-law, Alfonso IX of León, for control over the Kingdom of Portugal. Despite these challenges, Afonso II managed to consolidate his rule and strengthen the Kingdom of Portugal.
