Afonso III, King (portugal) : All Data
Afonso III was the King of Portugal from 1248 to 1279. During his reign, he successfully consolidated the kingdom's territories and established a centralized government. One of the most significant wars that occurred during his tenure was the War of the Two Brothers, which took place from 1258 to 1263. This conflict arose between Afonso III and his brother, King Alfonso X of Castile, over territorial disputes. Another notable war was the Reconquista, a series of military campaigns against the Moors in the Iberian Peninsula. Although the Reconquista spanned several centuries, Afonso III played a crucial role in pushing the Moors further south, particularly during the Battle of Faro in 1249.
