al-Mustansir bi'llah was the eighth Caliph of the Fatimid Caliphate, reigning from 1036 to 1094. During his rule, the Fatimid Caliphate faced several significant conflicts. One of the most important wars was the Byzantine-Norman War, which occurred from 1059 to 1085. This conflict saw the Fatimids supporting the Byzantine Empire against the Normans in their struggle for control over southern Italy. Another notable conflict was the Great Berber Revolt, which took place from 1045 to 1057. This uprising, led by the Berber tribes, posed a major challenge to al-Mustansir's rule and required significant military efforts to suppress.
