Antiochus VII Sidetes was the ruler of the Seleucid Kingdom from -138 to -129. He faced several significant wars during his reign, including the ongoing conflict with the Parthian Empire. In -130, Antiochus VII launched a campaign to reclaim lost territories in Mesopotamia, resulting in the Battle of Ecbatana. However, he was ultimately defeated by the Parthians, marking a significant setback for the Seleucid Kingdom. Another notable conflict occurred in -132, when Antiochus VII faced a revolt led by the Jewish Hasmonean leader, Simon Thassi. This revolt, known as the Maccabean Revolt, resulted in the establishment of an independent Jewish state in Judea.
