Omurtag was a Tsar who ruled over the First Bulgarian Empire from 816 to 831. During his reign, he faced several significant wars and conflicts. One of the most notable wars was the Byzantine-Bulgarian War of 811-813, which occurred prior to Omurtag's rule but had lasting effects on his reign. Another important conflict was the Bulgarian-Byzantine War of 821-822, where Omurtag successfully defended his empire against Byzantine aggression. Additionally, there were internal revolts and uprisings, such as the rebellion of the Slavic tribe of Smolyani in 827.
