Ashot I "the Great" was a king who ruled over the Bagratid Kingdom of Armenia from 884 to 890. During his reign, he faced several significant wars and revolts. One of the most important conflicts was the rebellion led by the Armenian nobleman Smbat Bagratuni in 885, which lasted for several years. Another notable war occurred in 886 when Ashot I successfully defended his kingdom against the invasion of the Abbasid Caliphate. These conflicts align with the ruler's known period of rule and demonstrate his ability to protect and maintain the sovereignty of the Bagratid Kingdom of Armenia.
