Charles I was the last Emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, ruling from 1916 until 1918. During his reign, he faced the tumultuous period of World War I, which lasted from 1914 to 1918. Additionally, he had to contend with the Hungarian Revolution of 1918, which occurred within the same timespan. Despite his efforts to negotiate peace, Charles I was unable to prevent the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the end of his rule.
