Christian I, Elector (saxony (albertines)) : All Data
Christian I was the Elector of Saxony from 1564 to 1591. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the Livonian War (1558-1583) and the Eighty Years' War (1568-1648). The Livonian War, fought between Russia, Sweden, Poland-Lithuania, and the Livonian Confederation, saw Saxony supporting Poland-Lithuania against Russia and Sweden. The Eighty Years' War, a Dutch revolt against Spanish rule, began in 1568 and lasted until 1648. Although Saxony did not directly participate in this war, Christian I's rule coincided with its early stages, which saw the Dutch rebels fighting for independence from Spain.
