Giovanni Soranzo was the Doge of the Republic of Venice from 1312 to 1328. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the War of Saint Sabas (1323-1328) and the War of Ferrara (1325-1328). The War of Saint Sabas was a conflict between Venice and the Papal States over the control of the monastery of Saint Sabas in the Holy Land. The War of Ferrara, on the other hand, was a territorial dispute between Venice and the Este family over the city of Ferrara. Despite these challenges, Soranzo managed to maintain Venice's influence and power in the region throughout his rule.
