Napoleon III, born Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, was the President of France from 1848 to 1852 and then declared himself Emperor, ruling from 1852 to 1870. During his reign, France was involved in several significant conflicts. One of the most notable was the Crimean War, which took place from 1853 to 1856. Another important conflict was the Second Italian War of Independence, also known as the Austro-Sardinian War, which occurred in 1859. Additionally, Napoleon III played a role in the American Civil War by supporting the Confederacy, although France did not directly engage in the conflict.
