Amara Dunqas was the Sultan of the Funj Sultanate from 1505 to 1527. During his reign, the Funj Sultanate faced several significant conflicts. One of the most important wars was the Battle of Dongola in 1508, where the Funj forces under Sultan Amara Dunqas successfully defeated the forces of the Kingdom of Makuria. Another notable conflict was the War of the Nile Valley in 1523, where the Funj Sultanate clashed with the Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt.
