Liutprand was the King of the Lombards who ruled from 712 to 744 in the Kingdom of the Lombards. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the war against the Byzantine Empire known as the Lombard-Byzantine War (726-752). This war lasted throughout most of Liutprand's rule and resulted in territorial gains for the Lombards. Additionally, Liutprand faced internal revolts, such as the rebellion of Duke Hildeprand in 737, which he successfully suppressed. Despite the challenges, Liutprand's reign was marked by territorial expansion and consolidation of Lombard power in Italy.
