Martin Van Buren was the eighth President of the United States, serving from 1837 to 1841. During his presidency, he faced the Second Seminole War (1835-1842), a conflict between the United States and the Seminole Native American tribe in Florida. Additionally, the Aroostook War (1838-1839) occurred during his tenure, which was a boundary dispute between the United States and the United Kingdom over the Maine-New Brunswick border. Despite these challenges, Van Buren's presidency is also marked by his efforts to stabilize the economy after the Panic of 1837 and his establishment of an independent treasury system.
