Mohammad Yaqub Khan was the Emir of the Emirate of Afghanistan in 1879. His reign was short-lived, lasting only from May to October of that year. During his tenure, Afghanistan was embroiled in the Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878-1880), a conflict between the British Empire and Afghanistan. This war saw significant battles such as the Battle of Ali Masjid in 1878 and the Battle of Kandahar in 1880. Despite his efforts to negotiate a peaceful resolution, Yaqub Khan was eventually forced to abdicate the throne, marking the end of his rule and the beginning of a turbulent period in Afghan history.
