Philippicus was an Emperor of the Byzantine Empire who ruled for a brief period in 713. During his tenure, the Byzantine Empire faced significant challenges, including the Arab-Byzantine Wars. One of the most important wars that occurred during Philippicus' reign was the Siege of Constantinople in 717-718, where the Byzantine Empire successfully defended the city against the Umayyad Caliphate. This conflict was followed by the Second Arab Siege of Constantinople in 717-718, which also ended in Byzantine victory. Despite his short reign, Philippicus played a crucial role in defending the Byzantine Empire against Arab invasions during a tumultuous period in its history.
