Psamtik III was the last pharaoh of the 26th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, ruling from -526 to -525. During his short reign, he faced the Persian invasion led by King Cambyses II in -525. This invasion marked the end of Egyptian independence and the beginning of Persian rule over Egypt. Psamtik III valiantly fought against the Persians, but ultimately his forces were defeated, and he was captured and taken as a prisoner to Susa. His reign marked a significant turning point in Egyptian history, as it marked the end of the native Egyptian pharaohs and the beginning of foreign domination.
