Rama IV, also known as King Mongkut, was the ruler of the Rattanakosin Kingdom from 1851 to 1868. During his reign, he faced several significant wars and conflicts. Another notable war was the Paknam Incident in 1863, where French warships threatened Bangkok in an attempt to assert control over Indochina.
