Rama IV, also known as King Mongkut, was the ruler of the Rattanakosin Kingdom from 1851 to 1868. During his reign, he faced several significant wars and conflicts. One of the most important wars was the Bowring Treaty War, which occurred from 1855 to 1856. This conflict arose due to the unequal treaty imposed by Britain, resulting in a diplomatic standoff. Another notable war was the Paknam Incident in 1863, where French warships threatened Bangkok in an attempt to assert control over Indochina. These conflicts highlight the challenges Rama IV faced in maintaining the sovereignty and independence of his kingdom during his rule.
