The french possession of Réunion in the Indian Ocean was renamed Île Bonaparte after First Consul Napoleon Bonaparte in 1801. The name was reverted to Île Bourbon in 1810.

1. French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars
Were a series of conflicts between France and several European monarchies between 1792 and 1815.
