Was one of the two main coalitions that fought in World War I (1914-1918). It consisted of the German Empire, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and the Kingdom of Bulgaria.

Establishment


  • October 1916: Second Battle of Cobadin: Austro-German occupation of the strategic port of Constanţa and capture of the railway between that city and Cernavodă.
  • November 1916: Bumbești was taken by the Germans.
  • November 1916: The Germans seized Târgu Jiu.
  • November 1916: All of the Jiu Valley fall in German possession.
  • November 1916: On 19 November, Filiași was taken by Austro-German forces.
  • November 1916: Alexandria was reached and secured by the Germans.
  • November 1916: The German 217th Division was halted at Prunaru.
  • November 1916: The towns of Pitești and Câmpulung fell to the Germans.
  • December 1916: The Central Powers successfully captured the city of Buzău from its Russo-Romanian defenders.

    1. World War I


    Was a global conflict between two coalitions, the Allies (primarily France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States) and the Central Powers (led by Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire). It was mainly caused by the competition of the western countries over domain in Europe and in the rest of the world with their colonial empires. The war ended with the defeat of the Central Powers. The war also caused the Russian Revolution and the ensuing Russian Civil War.
