Establishment
June 2014: When the Iraqi army withdrew from most of Iraqi Kurdistan in mid-2014 due to the ISIL offensive in northern Iraq, the Kurdish Peshmerga entered the areas and maintained control until October 2017.
June 2014: Fall of Mosul to the Islamic State.
June 2014: Kurdish forces entered Jalula.
June 2014: On 15 June, an insurgent assault, primarily led by the Naqshbandi Army and former Ba'athists, captured Tal Afar and its nearby airbase.
June 2014: Advancements of the IS during the Battle of Kirkuk (2014).
August 2014: ISIL captured the town of Wana between Zumar and Mosul.

August 2014: On 7 August, ISIL took control of Qaraqosh, the largest Christian town of Iraq, 30 km southeast of Mosul and 60 km west of Erbil, Karamlish, 5 km from Qaraqosh, Tal Keif, Batnaya, just north of Mosul, and Bartella, just east of Mosul.

Initially a series of anti-government protests and revolts across the Arab world, it soon evolved into a series of wars. The wars caused by the revolts are sometimes referred to as the Arab Winter.
1.1.Iraqi Civil War
Was a war between the Iraqi government and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The conflict originated as an insurgency against the government and the United States of America in the aftermath of the invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition. In 2017 the government eventually reconquered all the territories occupied by the Islamic State.
November 2015: November 2015 Sinjar offensive.
December 2015: Nineveh Plains offensive.
August 2017: Iraqi forces capture Tal Afar city on 28 August.
September 2017: Iraqi forces captured Mahalabiyah and Ayadhiyah.

Was a military offensive by the Islamic State in northern Iraq, during the War in Iraq (2013-2017).
1.1.2.Autonomy of Iraqi Kurdistan
During the War in Iraq (2013-2017) government troops left Iraqi Kurdistan which was controlled by local forces for most of the war.
October 2017: When the Iraqi army withdrew from most of the disputed areas in mid-2014 due to the ISIL offensive in northern Iraq, the Kurdish Peshmerga entered the areas and maintained control until October 2017.

Was a military offensive by the Islamic State in northern Iraq, during the War in Iraq (2013-2017).
1.1.4.December 2014 Sinjar offensive
Was a military offensive by Kurdish forces against the Islamic State in the Nineveh Governorate, during the War in Iraq (2013-2017).
1.1.5.Mosul offensive (2016)
Was a major military campaign launched by the Iraqi Government forces with allied militias, the Kurdistan Regional Government, and international forces to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State (ISIL), during the War in Iraq (2013-2017).
June 2016: The Iraqi Army captured Hajj Ali along with the villages of Khirab Jabri and Kaproki.
July 2016: The Iraqi Army recaptured Qayyarah Airfield West in Nineveh province from ISIL.
August 2016: Iraqi forces in collaboration with Kurdish forces captured four villages which were Tal Hamid, Qarqasha, Abzakh and Qura Takh located near Mosul.
September 2016: Shirqat was fully captured by pro-government forces.
October 2016: ISIL re-entered Shirqat after assaulting it from two axes. The group recaptured the mayor's office, the center of the district and the entertainment city area.
October 2016: Iraqi Army regained full control of the city of Shirqat.
July 2017: Battle of Mosul (2016-17).
1.1.6.2017 Western Nineveh offensive
Was a military offensive by Kurdish forces against the Islamic State in the Nineveh Governorate, during the War in Iraq (2013-2017).
April 2017: PMU announced during the afternoon of 26 April that they had captured the ruins of the ancient city of Hatra.
May 2017: The PMF captured the Sahl Sinjar Air Base.
May 2017: The PMF announced that it had captured 7 villages including four villages to south of al-Qairawan, Tal Qasab, 2 villages to the north of al-Qairawan.
May 2017: The PMF seized the strategic town of Qayrawan and a number of villages.
May 2017: The town of Al-Hadar was captured by Kurdish forces.
May 2017: PMU announced that they had recaptured the town of al-Qahtaniya.
June 2017: More than 500 PMF fighters captured al-Ba'aj.
