Alp Arslan was the Sultan of the Seljuk Empire from 1063 to 1072. During his reign, he faced significant military challenges, including the famous Battle of Manzikert in 1071. This battle, fought against the Byzantine Empire, resulted in a decisive Seljuk victory and marked the beginning of the decline of Byzantine power in Anatolia.
