Was one of the Taifas (independent Muslim principality) in the Iberian Peninsula that emerged in the period following the fall of the Umayyad Caliphate of Córdoba.

Establishment

January 1014: The Taifa of Grenada was an independent kingdom Muslim who emerged in to the-Andalus in 1013 , following the disintegration that had plagued the Caliphate of Córdoba.

1. Fragmentation of the Caliphate of Córdoba

The Caliphate disintegrated in the early 11th century during the Fitna of al-Andalus, a civil war between the descendants of caliph Hisham II and the successors of his hajib (court official), Al-Mansur, leading to the establishment of a multitude of independent Muslim kingdoms (taifas).

January 1091: Taifa of Grenada conquered by the Almoravids in 1090.

January 1027: The Taifa of Malaga was created in 1026.

January 1043: The Taifa of Lorca was founded in 1042, when Lorca declared its independence from the emirate of Valencia.

January 1058: Badis ibn Habus conquered the Taifa of Malaga annexing it to his kingdom of Grenada.

January 1074: After Badis' death in 1073 and the division of the Granadan taifa between his successors, Málaga went to Tamim ben Buluggin ben Badis.
